fixed focus quantum particle emitter
Method of propulsion similar to Quantum Slipstream Drive. Developed in conjunction with the Dimensional Accelerator. A fixed focus quantum particle emitter opens an aperture in the quantum layer of space allowing an entire starship to pass through all different quantum realities in every possible form and variation directly to its destination almost instantly.

The Aperture drive requires massive amounts of power and it is hoped that the HM1 quantum fusion reactor will be a viable solution to the power problem.

Aperture visual effect
The Quantum Aperture Drive has been noted as extremely dangerous technology by Starfleet Engineering. A miscalibration of the QAD, or damage taken to the QAD during activation, can cause the creation of dangerous space-time rifts, which can permanent damage the fabric of space, and pose a significant risk to all spacefaring races. Starfleet has not authorized the use of this technology aboard any of it's vessels, however the USS Venture Star, which the prototype was designed for, still has the unit installed.
