Development
In the 2350's starfleet along with several civilian agencies found the need for a craft to replace the aging Sydney class transport ships that were in heavy use since the 2280's.the design called for a ship able to carry cargo and passengers with a range equal to that or greater than the sydney class.With a design life of at least sixty years and refit schedual of at least two years.Starfleet desired the craft to be able to land in any planetary atmosphere and able to be equipped with moderate weaponry beyond simple defense phasers.
