Star Trek Canon
Within Futility's End (And Bravo Fleet) Star Trek canon is described as events seem during Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space 9, Star Trek: Voyager and the various Star Trek Movies that have been released by Paramount Pictures.
Other items such as the Star Trek Animated Series, books and Websites are not considered canon sources of information, while they may be used as a guidance to what is and is not canon they can be over ridden by events in the Paramount produced series and movies.
Futility's End
Any event which is logged in this InfoBase is considered Futility's End canon, the only way they can be changed is by gaining approval from the a member of the FE Quad. Missions, plots and characters that break this pre-established canon must be approved by the FE Quad before being entered in to the InfoBase, if they are not they may be removed without warning.
Semi Canon Sources
Technical manuals and other 'approved' books are described as semi canon; these sources can be considered canon until such a time as something on screen disproves it. Examples of semi canon sources would be the Deep Space 9 Technical Manual, or a discussion with a production designer such as Rick Sternbach or Mike Okuda.
The Star Trek Encylopedia (various revisions) and Star Trek Chronology books and interactive computer discs are a collection of canon data with some noted extrapolations. As such, they are useful for referencing canon facts however are not canon in and of themselves.

Canon is not to be confused with cannon
