Marta Batanides

Marta Batanides was a Starfleet officer from the years of 2327 to 2388 when she was killed during the batttle for Trill. She used her position as an Admerial in Starfleet Intelligence in the latter years of her career to carry on a secret crusade against Section 31 and had some considerable successes in curtailing thier activites. She learned of the group's exsistance when she discovered that her lover, Ambassador Tabor, had been a member prior to his death during one of thier operations.

This of course was unknown to the vast majority of the Federation, as the secret of Section 31's exsistance was never reviealed to the general public, or even most of Starfleet.
