The division was previously two seperate entities however Starfleet Security and Starfleet Tactical were merged in 2388 in hopes of improving the defence and security of the Federation.

Admiral Kathryn Janeway served as director of the division in 2395 as she led the Federation Fleet in fighting the Borg. Three years later with the merge

Which is it? Was the merge in 2388 or 2398? Was Janeway in charge in 2385 or 2395? - Chris

I've updated what Chris and Ross have stated, the dates were a simple typing mistake. Who takes over as head of security is down to Cash though. -MJ

I don't believe the actual details of the death were ever written.I suppose someday they should be at least for posterity or something.But that would be up to Dan as he handled the initial death of tuvik.Spock 09:43, 17 April 2006 (EDT)

The new head of security is chosen too, just not revealed yet :)
