Construction Materials

Unlike traditional starships, where almost all metallic surfaces are composed of duranium, the Diligent and Ozymandias were designed to be lighter and cheaper. So while critical component assemblies, as well as the hull, primary substructure elements, deck flooring, and major bulkheads are composed of duranium, tritanium and related alloys, many less critical components of the ship are made with simpler metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, and various alloys.

Warp Nacelles

In the attempt to reduce the power consumption of future Starfleet vessels, the Ozymandias uses covalent warp nacelles, which use a crosslinked power-sharing method between the warp coils within a nacelle. This scheme, while theoretically somewhat less robust, has been shown to reduce the power drawn by the warp nacelles while at cruising speed by 8%.

The warp nacelles are also capable of retracting to a position flush with the primary hull of the vessel. This strengthens the structural integrity of the vessel during combat, providing a smaller target profile, and reducing sheering forces on the nacelle struts during rapid combat maneuvers. It is possible to override the ship's programming and engage the warp drive while the nacelles are retracted, but the efficiency and strength of the warp field is diminished significantly.

Holographic Systems

The Ozymandias is equipped with an EMH Mark V due to the lack of medical staff. As such, all primary areas, such as the Bridge and Engineering, all corridors, and the two quarters closest to sickbay, are equipped with holographic emitters. These holo-emitters are capable of sustaining only one tangible hologram across the entire grid, which is generally reserved for the EMH. It is, however, capable of projecting 2D and 3D holographic diagrams. A small backup power system ensures EMH operation in even the most challenging circumstances.

Fighter Rapid Acceleration Control System

The FRACS system is designed to manage fighter movement inside the flight deck. It consists of a series of ceiling-mounted crane lifting devices and the G-Stop FDS. It is capable of launching or retrieving loaded fighters one at a time, every five seconds, allowing for extremely rapid deployment of an entire fighter group through a small aperture. This system was custom-designed for the Ozymandias and Valkyrie class fighters.

Interior Design

Engineering and Warp Chamber

Unlike most vessels, featuring a large open engineering section, the Diligent class design calls for a seperate warp chamber from the engine room, connected by Jefferies tube. The warp chamber does not having artificial gravity generation, but is pressurised. The lack of gravity in this part of the ship reduces strain on the warp core's flow regulators, improving core efficiency.

In the Ozymandias variant, the same seperate warp chamber design exists, though it has been placed lower in the vessel, and at a slant, because of the space consumed by the massive flight deck.

Sickbay and Medical Treatment

The medical facilities of Diligent and Ozymandias class vessels are significantly reduced in size, they contain only one primary biobed/surgical bay, and one secondary biobed. However, the two quarters closest to the sickbay are generally kept empty, and usable as overflow medical treatment areas if required.

Crew Quarters

Crew quarters are extremely small rooms somewhat comparable to the quarters of a Defiant Class. Each one contains two bunks and one computer terminal. Like other non-system critical things, the walls and furnishings in crew quarters are made of less complex materials.
