Hi After talking to Dan Taylor on IRC he suggested i provide my basic outline for SABRE Marines to this Infobase, so please give it a look. It is likley this format will be adopted in SRI first and foremost seeing as they have fewer rescources at their disposal. It is still advisable for EDF members to be aware of it in case the situation should change in the future. This information is primarily intended for Ship CO's and Marine personell.

This has in no way become offical Fleet orders as of yet. But awareness of this format would be a prudent idea for all fleet personell.

Thank you for your attention !!

This information is primarily intended for Ship CO's and Marine personell.

After doing some research and taking into account FE's plotline, i came up with the idea of re-modeling FE's Marines on the British Special Forces Unit the Special Air Service or S.A.S. This seems like a natural way to go for us as it means we can streamline our marine forces to take into account our depleted numbers after the devastating Borg War. Also the very nature of the SAS is to be infinatly adaptable and multi task orientated, with the highest possibe level of preparedness and training. To this end i have roughed out a new CoC within the fleet for the Marines. I intend to follow this with more updates with the intention of fleshing out the bare bones of this idea and providing more details on how the new units should intergrate witin the corps and our ships. Please recognise that most of this idea is flexible and things like maximum minimum ranks at each level are not set in stone, but for now i think i've got itmore or less right. This is what i have so far:

Chain of Command (marines only remember) Ship CO's Command Status is Fully respected. MCO's are under the command of the Ship's CO in the same way the TFMCO is under the command of the TFCO.

TFCO | | | TFMCO (Min Rank Lt Col) | | | Ship's MCO (Max Rank Major) Commands 1 Sabre Squadron Consisting of 6 "Troops" (A troop is a specialist team unit, Not 1 single soldier). MCO's can also take temporary direct opperational command of a "Troop" if nessarsary, ie experiance needed):

Depending on the requirements of the mission a Troop can consist of 1- 4 "Patrols" (See Below) At the moment i see the Troops like this:

Zero G Troop:- Responsible for all combat/recon/rescue activites in any environment with low/high gravity, either planetary or Orbital

Air Troop :- Air insertion unit, consiting of shuttle pilots and HAHO (High Altitude High Opening) and HALO skydiving specialists (High Altitude Low Opening)

All Terrain Troop :- Hazzardous Terrain unit, specializes in combat and recon/target aquisition, in areas with difficult terrain , such as Mountainous,Volcanic,Subterrainian,Heavy Jungle and Desert Areas. Somtimes used in cojunction with Naval Air Support for "painting Cloaked targets"

Boat Troop :- Amphibious Combat Unit, Experts in all aspects of water (or any substance with water like properties) based opperations. Consists of Liquid Breathing Diviers, Conventional Scuba Divers and waterbourne insertion specialists.

Argo(mobility) Troop :- specializes in the use of Special opps vehicles such as Argos. Members of this troop are highly skilled in all aspects of Mobility, such as land navigation, driving, alien technology slavage and maintenance.

"Troops" are manned by a mix and match approach under the mandate of the ship's MCO (in conjunction with the Ships CO). This means each troop can swap in and out personel from another troop depending on what is needed for any specific opperation, this lets our simmers gain specialist training and abilities in every kind of troop (just like the real SAS . for example Cpl A from the Boat Troop specialises in Scuba Diving, but is sent on a Argo Troop mission and learns Land Navigation Skills (you get the idea)

The rest of the CoC breaks down like this

Ship's MXO (Max Rank MCapt) (assists MCO, and takes command of entire Sabre Squadron if required, also can take temp opperational command of a single troop if MCO requires) | | | Troop Leader (If not commanded by MCO/MXO) (min Rank 2nd Lt or Sgt/Max Rank 1st Lt or Master Sgt.) | | | Troop Specialist (Any Rank Bellow Troop Leader Officer or NCO) | | | Patrol Member One of 3 (Lower Ranks) (Standard Special Opps Trained Marines) Consists of: Demolitions expert, paramedic and Sniper/Recon (coupled with their Specialist "Troop" training (Air,Boat whatever)

What all this hopfully means is FE's Marines will be a highly flexible, superbly trained fighting force, ready to be utilised by SF in it's relativly weakend state within the FE timeline
