Explanation of my crimes

  • First, I switched the order around. This is mostly because this is how I've always seen it represented before, but also because now the contents listing gives you a quick numbered guide as to what is closest to the sun.
  • I've reworded a lot of stuff - you can see this pretty plainly with the Pluto chages. The base facts are the same though.
  • Small Debris Field - I removed this. As the article presented it, this was junked vessels from the BoS in between Pluto and Neptune. But, the (soon to be completed) BoS article says that the two fleets didn't meet until Saturn. Given that quite a few Fleet ships were lost at Saturn, it might make sense to have a small field there (on the orbital line - not next to the planet) asuming the junk wasn't towed away, but I can't see a reason for a field out this far. Also, with regards to Fed junk, given the shortages of resources would it not make sense that we've reclaimed absolutely everything in order to build... housing, ships, sheep? With the main Field, we perhaps don't dare cos of the Borg, but surely we'd reclaim SF hulls that were just floating around.
  • Neptune - The article said Neptune was home to "over 20,000 space objects off all types starships towed from near earth orbit after the last great borg battle spacejunk and debris cleared from the orbits of the other 8 planets and the sol system spaceways, and countless derelict space stations." As I understand it, the biggest conflict in Sol was the BoS, in which less than 8000 ships were lost, most of which were destroyed near Earth and now make up the field.
  • Uranus - This isn't something I know a lot about and it's pretty much the same as it was before, but with regards to the science of it, Hydrogen occurs all over the place [1] and it's feasible that by the 25th century we've worked out a way to create it artificially. I'm fine with leaving it as it is because it is fairly plausible, but thought I'd mention this in any case. As a question though, is this used for civvy ships? Starfleet don't need a direct course of hydrogen do they? The bussard collectors [do something] and that keeps ships going indefinately, doesn't it?
  • Jupiter - I wasn't entirely clear when I was rewording this, it may need some more editing.
  • The Field - rewording and some changes
    • 4 paths were cleared through. - This doesn't seem neccesarry. Big though it is, the field would be easy to go around and when the NX Enterprise could reach the outer system in around five minutes, today's ships wouldn't lose a lot of time making the detour. It seems simpler just to have the entire area as no fly. On a simm note, the Apes are about to make a 'dangerous' run through the field. It's a lot less dangerous when there are paths cleared for us. =)
    • Forcefields - surrounding the whole field with forcefields seems 'expensive' energy wise, not to mention pretty safe. The danger of the field becomes all the more potent if there's nothing there to stop what might emerge. I've included that there are still some forcefields - perhaps Starfleet assures people that everything is safe because of those in place and there's no need for extra ones. Then, one day...

I think that's it. My apologies if I've changes something which needs to stay as it was, but additions rather than a revert would probably be best here as it wasn't all that clear in some places. -Chris 05:41, 4 November 2005 (EST)

The field...

The field stuff needs to stay the way it was written, it's been written that way for a reason... as most of my articles have. If you have problems with it you should write a forum article first about it so something can be said.

Generally stuff written by one of the Quad members has plots attached too it. If something seems out of place, the chances are we know more which hasn't been released yet.

The Field itself is large, too tall to go around quickly and thick enough that going through is sucide if there aren't pre-cleared routes (of which there should be three, two to use one undergoing maintenance).

As for the second debris field, it was towed there, it exists to separate the outter edges of the system (pluto and the like) from the inner core.

There is meant to be a large checkpoint system there, which is where people get blow out of the sky if they try to cross without authorisation.

Oh and the only reason the Apes are going through is because it would take time to clear a tunnel in the Field (tunnels are capitalship sized), only fighters stand a chance of weaving through the debris and avoiding the Borg.

Yeah i love everything you've done here chris let just put the field stuff back in.Other than that Kudos!-Cash

Pluto

Construction of a new EDF orbital control Nelis Base was completed in 2403.

Just wondering what a Nelis base is. Also, I can't remember if "Pluto Station" was something already mentioned that I just developed a little, or if I made it up completely, thinking that it was the name for this Nelis base. I ask because I've referenced it in the Aftermath at Battle of Sol.
