Biography

Bryan Cash was born in a small Minnesota town in the year 2225. When he was eight years old, his parents were killed in a shuttle accident, and

Bryan was devastated. After floating around the orphanage system for a few years, a living relative was finally found. Bryan went to live with his Great-Uncle: Admiral George Cash, who had previously been on a deep space exploration mission in the Beta Quadrant. Admiral George Cash was a older, strict, millitary-man, and Bryan's life was not all fun and games. The Admiral made Bryan live his life like he was in the millitary and pressured him to join Starfleet when he came of age. Bryan resented his uncle for this and grew up a very bitter and lonely little boy. He attended Xavier Lewis High School in Iowa, and excelled in scientific courses such as biology and mathematics. Bryan was also a member of the high school football team and an avid rugby player.

Bryan submitted his application to join Starfleet at age 18. His uncle helped to get the application accepted for early entry. In the Academy, Bryan found an entirely new life away from his uncle, and he studied terran history and science with incredible zeal. By sheer accident, Bryan discovered his talent for command during a training exercise on Earth. Bryan was the only sophomore cadet ever to lead a team to a victory in the Academy's war game exercises, and as a result was recommended for the Command School.

Bryan is a rather easy going fellow; his prefered method of command is to be both casual and respectful, and he only wishes to receive what he gives in kind. Bryan has several academic interests such as ancient earth history and stellar sciences. He graduated 15th in his class of 200. His first post was aboard the USS Eagle as a Relief Navigation Officer, where he served untill he was promoted to Lieutenant and reassigned to the USS Exeter as Primary Helm Officer, where he remained for five years.

Upon the end of the Exeter's five year mission, Bryan was reassigned to the San Fransisco Fleet Yards as a Junior Designer in the Navigation Systems Division, where he was assigned to the design team for the ship that would shape his ultimate destiny: The USS Venture Star. Bryan started as a Navigation Systems Integrator but quickly moved up until he was Lead Construction Overseer and promoted to Commander. Bryan oversaw the introduction of several key designs and systems into the Venture Star and was very heavily involved in her construction, as well. After the Venture Star's sister ship, the USS Intimidator, was destroyed in a tragic accident on her maiden voyage, the whole Dreadnaught Project was going to be scrapped, but Bryan pushed for the project to continue and swore that he could make the remaining prototype work— and work well. Starfleet Command was impressed by his passionate speech, and gave command of the Venture Star to Bryan along with a promotion to Captain three years later at the Venture Star's launching ceremony.

Bryan served for more than twenty years aboard the Venture Star and was eventually promoted to Fleet Captain and assigned to Starfleet Command. Bryan served at Command Headquarters with distinction untill he learned of the impending decommission of his old command, the Venture Star. Bryan hatched a plot with several other former officers of the Venture Star and stole the aging ship from its birthplace at San Fransisco Fleet Yards. The ship got as far as a distant Klingon Neutral Zone border world— when she was engaged by a Klingon D7 Battlecruiser and supposedly destroyed… Captain Cash ordered his old friends to abandon ship when it looked like the day was lost. He turned the ship away from the attacker and prepared to jump to warp… at the exact moment he engaged the engines the klingon ship fired at his engineering section causing an imbalance in the warp core… and the ship jumped into a wormhole. The vortex cut through space and time, and in a trip that only lasted a few minutes, Captain Cash traveled almost sixty years into the future… He emerged in 2375, his ship floundering, and was soon rescued and brought back to Earth. Retaught and reacquainted with Starfleet and 24th-century life, Captain Cash was pressed back into service doing the one thing he did the best: commanding a starship!

Bryan Cash commanded the starship Cario admirably for many years. The Cario was responsible for contact with no less then twenty-seven new civilizations in the Beta Quadrant beyond the Klingon Empire when exploration was at its peak. But everything changed on one fateful day in 2382, when the Cario was recalled along with every ship in Task Force 93. The Borg were back— and this time things would be different. The Fighting was intense, and by February of that year, the Borg had reached the Qualor System. Task Force 93 fought hard for Qualor, but were soon overwhelmed by the Borg's sheer numbers. Aboard the Cario, Captain Cash took it upon himself to gather 1300 evacuees from the rapidly-overrun Qualor, and while the rest of the fleet headed for Starbase 565, the Cario ran from the system as fast as her over-taxed engines could carry her. The Cario was being persued by two cubes, and Captain Cash made a mad run for the one place he suspected the Borg could not follow: The Briar Patch, Sector 441. It was a long and harrowing trip, but the civilian element aboard ship had to be saved. The Cario's first officer, Justin Entria, volunteered for a final mission with a skeleton crew: the stardrive section of the Cario would hold off the Borg cubes while the saucer escaped into the Briar Patch. It was risky, but everyone aboard the Cario knew that their options were running out. As the Cario approached the patch, the saucer was seperated while at warp speed. The saucer's inertia carried her into the Briar Patch and to safety, and the stardrive section was never seen or heard from again. The saucer section, heavily damaged, limped slowly through the Patch and eventually came into orbit of the Ba'ku Homeworld. Captain Cash established a permanent orbit for the rapidly-deteriorating saucer, and the refugees were welcomed by the Ba'ku with open arms.

Captain Cash stayed aboard the remains of his once-great ship and kept an almost-silent watch over the planet, always hoping that his worst fears would never be realized and that the Borg would never return… And they never did. By late 2400, with an intense longing to see his home and friends again, Captain Cash (who had been rejuvinated by the unique Metaphasic Radiation around the Ba'ku Planet) repaired a small shuttlecraft, and journeyed to learn what had become of the Federation. Bryan was welcomed with open arms by the new Federation and Starfleet, who immediately gave him one of the available last ships to command, the second USS Voyager, hoping his years of seasoned experience in dealing with "unknowns" out in the great black beyond would be an incredible asset.
