Strike Force Effectiveness

I've inculded that the SF was directly responsible for the destruction of over 50 vessels, - 56 being the 'exact' number. This is based largely on First COntact. Memory Alpha lists over twenty vessels shown onscreen, and when you consider that the Ent joined the battle late on, and it had been raging not only above Earth but all the way from the 'Typhon?' sector, a number over thirty can be expected. Now, unprepared, 38 starships were completely destroyed by a single cude in BOBW. In FC, a force (of over 30?) that included Defiant, Sabre and at least one Sovvy managed to take out one cube with heavy losses to their own. SF-A is an attack wing using combined ships and tech from all the major species (well, only really ships from Fed, Dom, Kling). We're talking B'rels, Dominion fighters, Defiants, Sabre's - ships that in some cases were designed solely to fight the borg. You've also got a lot of small ships that are hard to hit and can scurry about Utopia. Say you also have a few hundred larger Galaxies and Sovvies for an added kick.

So, say you get an average of 1 cube to 27 (of the best) allied vessels (still high but less than we've seen before), and 1500 ships can account for 56 Borg cubes. Consider that these guys are seriously kicking ass, and factor a few more in that they did with the help of others and this wing has helped to take out over a quarter of the Borg fleet. Naturally, given the high numbers of civilian and generally crap vessels in the fleet, not all other wings are as effective as this, but you do have some Romulan and Cardassian warships, Excelsiors and the like which aren't as good, but can still pack a punch and eventually we win. Anyway, this is just how I worked it out in case anyone wonders. - Chris 11:24, 26 October 2005 (EDT)

As a further point of reference for their skills, for 8000 vessels (the entire allied fleet) to wipe out 222 Cubes (the Borg fleet) would mean a ratio of 36:1. Consider that this involves little useless civvy ships and old Connies and this number would suggest that we've gotten better at killing Borg since FC, but SF-A are still the daddies with their 27:1 ratio - a number which would be higher if they weren't sent on the toughest assignments eg. tactical cube wing. - Chris 09:30, 2 November 2005 (EST)
