Introduction
Azathar is an opinionated, 30-year-old Community Social Psychology graduate student, and only child from the liberal elitist Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, who would love nothing better then to move to Canada, and therefore be far, far away from George W. Bush and the direction that America is heading. Usually quiet, but highly intelligent, he usually stands in the back and watches.
Politics, Philosophy and Religion
A Social, Liberal, Left-Wing, Progressive Catholic, who embraces some of the ideas of socialism, Azathar is one of the moderators of the anti_bush community on LiveJournal, in addition to being a member of other anti-bush, anti-right and anti-conservative communites, including: [anti_righty, canpolitik, liberal, and rant_about_cons.
Education
Graduating in 1993 from High School in Exeter, New Hampshire, Azathar has attended five schools, starting at the University of Massachusetts Boston and currently studying at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His education has also included a summer French Immersion program at the Université Sainte-Anne in Church Point, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1998. C.J. has a B.Sc. in Psychology and Criminal Justice and is currently working on his Master's in Community Social Psychology.
Eventually, he would like to earn a Ph.D. in Social Psychology, and become a Professor and Researcher at a university, teaching social psychology and conducting research.
Relationships
C.J. is currently engaged to Amy. A late-spring 2005 wedding is planned.
Beyond that, he has many friends and aquaintences, and even a few enemies. Hell, one can't live for almost 30 years with out developing a few enemies, `eh?
Career
Currently, Azathar works at UML in a computer lab. Basically, he gets paid to sit and do homework, and help out the occasional student with program problems, and refill the paper tray in the printers.
He also works part-time at Panera Bread, though that is just for the free food ;-).
Azathar aspires however to be a tenured Professor of Social Psychology. ć
Hobbies
Azathar is a self-proclaimed geek, an assessment that his cousin Chris would also agree with.
An avid table-top rpg'er, Azathar has been playing D&D and other rpgs in one form or another since 1981, including Gamma World, Star Trek (FASA), Dr. Who (FASA), Star Frontiers, Boot Hill, Paranoia, GURPS and others.
In the spring of 2003, C.J. got to meet one of his idols, the co-Creator of Dungeons and Dragons: Gary Gygax. Besides getting books autographed, C.J. got to participate in a game DM'd by Gary.
Besides RPGs, C.J. is a fan of Star Trek, in all of its forms, but especially likes Deep Space 9 the best, due to its intrigue and dark elements.
Azathar runs a Star Trek PBeM call the Federation Starship Tomar. This simm is a member of Bravo Fleet, which is a group of Star Trek simms set in a cooperative setting. He also owns and Co-Moderate a LJ Community called Bravo_Fleet.
He is also an avid reader of Science Fiction and Fantasy novels and stories. C.J. Cheryh, H.P. Lovecraft, and Isaac Asimov are among his favorite writers.
Azathar also enjoys watching cartoons, including many old-school ones, but he also watches some modern ones, including Invader Zim, South Park, Beavis & Butt-Head, Spongebob Squarepants (its a secret addiction), and Tenchi Muyo. G.I. Joe, Voltron, Star Blazers, and Transformers sit at the top of the old-school list.
