So what happened to ol NCC-70637? it just go poof or something?-Cash

well as I said on the forums we're not actually too sure what happened as there was a Galaxy-A in TF38 when I wrote the article...I'm assuming the Galaxy was decomissioned after nearly twenty years of service in Starfleet. Which seems quite logical as it was part of a number of conflicts and would start to show a bit of age - MJ

I dunno i kinda don't buy that a Galaxy class starship even one involved in a number of conflicts especially the prototype ship would just be scrapped after only 20 years.that a pretty big important expensive ship to just scrap.I know some fanboy in BF probably blew the freakin thing up for kicks but come one.......were not BF fellows.  :)

maybe not but I think the resources of having to constantly repair, refit, upgrade a twenty year old starship would be a lot more then just building a new one. plus Starfleet in this time were in the height of pre-Dominion War state in regards to building starships. They would have the resources to build a new Galaxy, one with all the latest technology and perhaps decomission the old one in to the Starfleet Museum.

again it's not really a plausible idea to just scrap a 20 year old ship.look at the WWII battleships they served a hell of a lot longer than 20 years.there less advanced than a starship and little ol USA keep refitting them even after some of them were damaged very heavily sooooooo i again state it seems impalusible that a 20 year old galaxy class starship would just be tossed away "even to the fleet meuseum" just cause its easier to build a new one"which it isnt"-cash

Cash is right

Unless the Galaxy is 85-95% destroyed they're going to fix it, the only time you'd let the hull go is if its damaged beyond repair or is fatigued beyond safety. The original Galaxy shouldn't have just been decomissioned after 20 years.

Possibly decommissioned and recommissioned as a different ship post refit if a newer model Galaxy was christened USS Galaxy, but there would need to be some kind of major plot behind it, otherwise I couldn't see it happening.
