Q is kind of a dick. He is also an immortal, and possibly omnipotent, being from an extradimensional plane of existence inhabited by others of his species. He is considered to be extremely dangerous. All Starfleet officers who encounter him are encouraged to shut the hell up and not give him opportunities for 'fun'.
