The Treaty of Algeron was a peace treaty signed by the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire in 2311 shortly after the events of the Tomed Incident.The treaty created and defined the Neutral zone and that violations of the zone by either party was a direct act of war.The treaty also prohibited the United federation of Planets from developing or utilizing cloaking technology of there own.By 2400 the treaty of algeron is no longer in effect.The romulan star empire and the klingon empire now members of the federation allow cloakign devices on all combined forces ships.
