Reactor prototype
Based heavily upon failed quantum vaccuum experiments in the early 23rd century, the HM1 is able to capture quantum particles out of a total vaccuum and combines them in a reaction that generates massive amounts of power. The problem has always been that during the reaction process some power is invariably lost trying to actually capture the quantum particles before they vanish. The Hellstrom Mark I fixes this latent power loss by allowing a cascade effect almost to the point of overload thus creating more available power, but limiting the reactors effective safe operating conditions. This also creates a need for a dedicated monitoring system of the complete system. Installation of the HM1 is due on the USS Venture Star testbed ship sometime in middle 2404.
