SABRE Corps

This information is primarily intended for Ship CO's and Marine personell. 


Following the devestating troop losses during the borg war The Federation marine core was absorbed along with several other smaller organizations into a new Federation Mobile Infantry armed service encompasing most planetary based assault and protection duties.This change left a hole the marines filled as Starship based special recon and assault troops.Starfleet decided to fill that role again by reactivating a little known corp of special ops called Sabre.Standing for S.pecial A.ssault B.oarding R.econ and E.vasion sabre's were to be assigned to outward bound starships on a case by case basis due to the organizations low number of trained available recruits.

Chain of Command Ship CO's Command Status is Fully respected. SCO's are under the command of the Ship's CO in the same way the TFSCO is under the command of the TFCO.

TFCO | | | TFSCO (Min Rank Lt Col) | | | Ship's SCO (Max Rank Major) Commands 1 Sabre Squadron Consisting of 6 Troops (A trooper is a specialist team member,Highly skilled in his or her field). SCO's can also take temporary direct opperational command of a "platoon" which is if nessarsary two to four squads, ie experiance needed):

Depending on the requirements of the mission a platoon can consist of 2- 4 "Squads" (See Below) At the moment i see the squads like this:

Zero G squad:- Responsible for all combat/recon/rescue activites in any environment with low/high gravity, either planetary or Orbital

Air squad :- Air insertion unit, consiting of shuttle pilots and HAHO (High Altitude High Opening) and HALO skydiving specialists (High Altitude Low Opening)

All Terrain squad :- Hazzardous Terrain unit, specializes in combat and recon/target aquisition, in areas with difficult terrain , such as Mountainous,Volcanic,Subterrainian,Heavy Jungle and Desert Areas. Somtimes used in cojunction with Fleet Air Support for "painting Cloaked targets"

Boat squad :- Amphibious Combat Unit, Experts in all aspects of water (or any substance with water like properties) based opperations. Consists of Liquid Breathing Diviers, Conventional Scuba Divers and waterbourne insertion specialists.

Argo(mobility) squad :- specializes in the use of Special opps vehicles such as Argos. Members of this troop are highly skilled in all aspects of Mobility, such as land navigation, driving, alien technology slavage and maintenance.

"Squads" are manned by a mix and match approach under the mandate of the ship's SCO (in conjunction with the Ships CO). This means each squad can swap in and out personel from another squad depending on what is needed for any specific opperation, this lets our simmers gain specialist training and abilities in every kind of squad (just like the real SAS . for example Cpl A from the Boat squad specialises in Scuba Diving, but is sent on a Argo squad mission and learns Land Navigation Skills (you get the idea)

The rest of the CoC breaks down like this

Ship's SXO (Max Rank MCapt) (assists SCO, and takes command of entire Sabre Squadron if required, also can take temp opperational command of a single platoon if SCO requires) | | | Squad Leader (If not commanded by SCO/SXO) (min Rank 2nd Lt or Sgt/Max Rank 1st Lt or Master Sgt.) | | | Squad Specialist (Any Rank Bellow Squad Leader Officer or NCO) | | | Squad Member One of 3 (Lower Ranks) (Standard Special Opps Trained) Consists of: Demolitions expert, paramedic and Sniper/Recon (coupled with their Specialist "Squad" training (Air,Boat whatever)


What all this hopfully means is FE's Sabre unit will be a highly flexible,superbly trained fighting force, ready to be utilised by SF in it's relativly weakend state within the FE timeline
