Biography
Rownen was born on Betazed, named after his mother's father. He, his parents, and his sister all lived together near the Opal sea on Betazed. He was brought up to respect his own heritage, and that of others. Due to his own mixed heritage, his growth rate was a staggered development. By the time he reached his tenth birthday, he appeared to be at least sixteen, but it wasn't until his twentieth birthday that he started to look twenty. This was because his El-Aurian genes had kicked in were now slowing down his appearance-change. He still looked the same by his fiftieth birthday.
Like most of his friends, he joined Starfleet Academy. He served on many starships with distinction and honour. He was normally assigned to the flight control department, but in his last few posts he took on the positions of Chief Engineer, Chief Security & Tactical, and on his last ship, the USS Midas, he served and XO. After getting married, he resigned his commission and began to live his life with his wife.
When they reached their twentieth anniversary, both Rownen and Lucy had their first child, Jane. Nine years later the couple had children again, this time twin boys. Drew and Ewan lived with their older sister and parents on Earth.
Before long, Jane left the family to join Starfleet. At that same time, Starfleet sent Admiral Kathryn Janeway to ask if both Rownen and Lucy would return to Starfleet due to the lack of experienced officers left after the recent Borg conflicts. They agreed and joined the Admiral's staff at Starfleet Command. Rownen was placed in charge of getting the Admiral's old vessel, the USS Voyager, back up and operational. He soon became Admiral Janeway's executive officer on the vessel. Voyager only served as part of the defense fleet of Earth with what was left of the many empires that had already fallen to the Borg, as well as what was left of the fourth fleet, in particular the remains of Task Force Twenty-One. Lucy stayed on Earth with the twins and served as the Admiral's liason officer to Starfleet Medical.
During the final battle at Sector 001, Voyager was fighting a Borg Sphere when the Starfleet vessel was heavily damaged. Fleet Admiral Janeway ordered the crew to abandon ship, when Rownen was about to leave to the Admiral would not, saying that she was going to remain aboard and ram the Borg Sphere. Rownen argued with her for some time but she pushed him into an escape pod, and remained behind with only one crew member: Ensign Andrew Johnson. Rownen's escape pod was launched and he was forced to watch as Voyager was destroyed by ramming the sphere and destroying the Borg ship.
He was rescued by the USS Kent and help the crew of the Kent fight the Borg. He was reunited with his family after the battle was won, and awarded the Christopher Pike Medal of Valour by Fleet Admiral Picard.
