Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri is a trinary star system about 4 lightyears from Sol and the primary of the Alpha Centauri System.A multitude of habitable planets reside in this system.A generic term today alpha centauri is often used in referance to many of the now non-colony totally habited planets.

The planet [Centauri VIIA of the A star system is home to the former Alpha Centauri Colony now a thriving planetary government and home to Alpha Centauri university.This is the Planet Zefram Cochrane first set foot on and made his home in the early 22nd century.The planet but not the entire system is now occupied and under Vulcan rule.Alpha Centauri C's system also known as Proxima centauri and its associated planets remain free of vulcan control.

The multiple suns of the entire sytem and the number of planets makes the native gravity rather heavy by human standards.As a result the older generations of alpha centaurian's are much more robust individuals with a greater muscle mass than a sol system human.The ground of Alpha Centauri VIIA is rather warm to the touch and rich with minerals.The relative young age of the system means that certain types of vegetation are not native to the planet.Such as the massive forest of fir trees that were planted as such lifeforms did not have time to develop.

In 2405 the planet was declared off-limits when news of a Borg drone on the planet broke out.

After that incident was cleared up, the planet was re-opened and continues to serve as a key core world of the Federation.
