Anise Selmak was the mechanic of the independent freighter, S.S Starlight before later being replaced by Kayvin Jal.

Physical Characteristics:
Anise is a recently joined Trill which means that she has several lifetimes of the Selmak symbiont to lean on for experience. She’s 5’7, has long dark hair, and is content on keeping herself physically fit. Anise has a calm look about her most of the time; however she does get a gleam of excitement in her eyes whenever she’s behind the helm. Anise carries her Trill spots well.
Personal Characteristics
Anise can be seen as a little bit overly enthusiastic towards some things she does or some things she’s involved in.
Anise does not like sickbays and always denies she's hurt (emotionally or physically) even if it's not true. She would however go to sickbay if her injuries would interfere with her job or if she were ordered to do so; but whilst she can still carry on her duties, she's fine as far as she's concerned.
Her general frame of mind is usually one of confidence, allowing her to do whatever task is in need of being done rather than hesitating - this proves to be both a gift and curse in some situations.
Anise can often be found 'arguing' with one or more of her symbiont's former hosts, sometimes outloud.
Personal History:
Since an early age, Anise had always been fascinated by anything that flies, and had learned to pilot a shuttle once she was old enough to reach the control panels. Presently she can fly just about anything she lays her hands on.
There was no question about what she would do once she entered Starfleet Academy. Once in the Academy, she excelled in manoeuvring various starship classes, fighters and shuttlecraft through some of the tightest spots, finding that a great challenge to herself and knowing that that ability would come in handy in her future career. Performing some of the manoeuvres she did; has earned her the nickname ‘hot shot’ in the Academy and the nickname had stuck with her whilst she was stationed as Wing Commander on the USS Valiant.
She likes things to be exciting, the more manoeuvres she can pull, and the tighter places she can get into and out of, the better. Anise is a thrill seeker, however she won’t try a manoeuvre in real life until she tried it out on the holodeck first and can always be found exploring the notion of a new manoeuvre either on a PADD or testing it out on the holodeck.
She's shy, and keeps to herself most of the time; however that doesn't stop her from doing her job to the best of her abilities. She doesn’t like to see her friends and team mates hurt or injured, and especially if they are hurt because of her actions or on her ‘watch’. Anise can get a little stubborn when it comes to protecting those around her. She would gladly give up her life if it meant it would safe others.
If it's not job-related, Anise doesn't like talking about herself with other people, preferring to keep herself to herself and refusing to open up to most people about her past, a past which is tainted with some painful memories of capture, torture as well as watching her ship mates die due to what she considered her own recklessness at the time.
Anise took leave from Starfleet at the age of 21 and went back to Trill to take a second look at herself and her ways. She changed and trained enough to be considered for a joining with a symbiont; she finally got the Selmak symbiont at the age of 23. Shortly after she went back to Starfleet, and back to what she or rather Selmak’s new host loved doing. Since her joining Anise had toned down her reckless edge a bit, but can still be considered crazy by some people in certain flight operations.
During her spare time, she likes to work out in the holodeck, practice her flying or to keep herself in shape by using a Bat’leth to fight holo enemies whilst keeping the safeties off, but not to the point of being suicidal. She does not want to die during training, and just uses the training to keep herself sharp knowing well that the threat out there is way more serious than anything the holodeck can provide.
Since her return to Starfleet, Anise has served on the USS Ronald Reagan - A under Admiral Dan Taylor. During her short stay there, she's developed a certain kind of familiarity with Mr Taylor. A familiarity that she couldn't quite place her finger on, but felt it was connected to one of Selmak's former hosts. This has gotten her in trouble with Commander Minetti a vicious Intelligence specialist willing to do anything to get the truth out of whoever he interrogates. As of yet, she's unsure of all the details and her or Selmak's connection with Dan Taylor.
Shortly after, Anise and her fellow crewmembers of the USS Ronald Reagan-A have been reasigned to qun mughwI, a Klingon ship under command of the nasty Captain Aaron Carter and then his sister, an even worse Caitlin Carter. That however didn't last long, she was extracted from the Bounty under orders of Vice president Jellico and brought back to Starfleet to once again face Commander Minetti.
Anise spent close to half a year in captivity getting tortured and interrogated in a variety of ways on an almost daily basis.
Anise quit Starfleet for the second time and using Selmak's memories ran to Seeburg City on omicron Theta where she managed to land a job at the city watching over the landing docks; carrying out any small repairs, and ferrying a variety of scum here and there whilst still dealing with the effects the past 6 months had on her. It was the only place Anise thought Minetti wouldn't find her, or so she hoped.
Fate managed to interfere once again and throw Anise's life off track as she was kidnapped by Katar Hol the local crime boss, it appears he needed her to install a cloaking device on a ship belonging to someone. Ensuring her cooperation through the means of an explosive colar, Anise had little choice but to cooperate regardless of the fact that her specialty in this life wasn't engineering and the pilot wasn't sure she could do what Katar wanted her for. Somehow, the Trill felt there was more to this than just the installation of a cloak.
From Starfleet fighters and vessels, to a Klingon bird of prey to the transport ship. Except she wouldn't be flying the Starlight. She is now its new mechanic.
Interests & Hobbies
Flying – Anything to do with flying fighters, starships and just about anything that can fly.
betleH - Picked up the art with Delek's influence, at first somewhat reluctant but later years she's seen how useful the sword of honor can be in battle.
Selmak Symbiont
Having received the symbiont in 2401, Anise is still exploring the past lives of the Selmak symbiont.
Before Anise received the Selmak symbiont, the prvious host was Lantash who was an engineer, whose skills have managed to assist Anise in some repairs.
Another former host was Malek who was a psychologist/medic first and foremost, but later due to circumstances at the time has also become experienced in intelligence and infiltration.
Delek was an experienced security and weapons officer who had a thing for Klingon culture.
Tanith was another former host living from 2370 – 2395 the memories of whom Anise has yet to explore fully.
