Damien Hellstrom:57 year old physicist.
Created the world's first quantum vacuum reactor. A perpetual source of near limitless energy. It mines particles from the quantum vacuum and utilizes them in a fusion reaction. Since no outside source of fuel is needed the reactor now dubbed the Hellstrom MKI has been utilized aboard the prototype starship USS Venture Star as a source of additional power for the ship's Quantum Aperture Drive.
While experimenting with the aperture drive system, Hellstrom discovered an innate ability of the drive to actually cross between dimensions. Project D.A.M or Dimensional Acceleration Machine. Has a black ops mandate to explore different quantum realities searching for a universe mostly abandoned that the federation can mine for precious natural resources.
Professor Hellstrom is a quite introverted man, preferring his research to individual personal interaction.
