The Founders were the shapeshifting changelings that orignated from the Gamma Quadrant and formed the Dominion after believeing their state of existances was pure divine then solid life forms. They formed a Great Link that existed in their homeworld. The Founders would revert to their natural liquid state, where the link was "a merging of form and thought, the sharing of idea and sensation" between all of its members.
