PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS & HISTORY:

Jolinar discovered a love of flying fighters after she was taken aboard one by a friend whilst she was training in an Intel specific field; soon after she transferred to the flight ops and re-trained as a fighter pilot. Her background in Intel, however brief, as well as her sharp reflexes helped her make quick decisions whilst in combat whether on the ground or behind the controls of a fighter or a starship for which she re-trained and got certified later when grounded from flying fighters after the Borg War. Jolinar has a tough ‘gung ho’ attitude as well as a “get out of my way” air around her when it comes to certain things that have to do with her job. She is calculating and cold blooded in addition to being ruthless; and has been known to keep all those around her on edge based on some comments she makes sometimes. Whether it’s a quirk or not, is not fully known as any tests she underwent since the Borg War, usually didn’t end up being too good for the party doing the testing.

She’s not ‘stiff’ all the times however. She’s easy going if she around someone she knows well, however, whilst on duty, Jolinar has a no-nonsense, personality that is almost seen as ‘hard assed’ and bitchy by some people, which of course helps in some situations, but doesn’t earn her any ‘brownie points’ when dealing with people in general. Has been known to scare some people. She’s not afraid to tell people when they’re wrong, even COs and higher ranking officials. There are multiple reprimands on her record and serious charges (she killed a former CO, whether it was accidental or not has not been proven yet) have been brought up against her before. The only reason she still remains where she is is because of her particular set of skills coming in handy after the events of the Borg war. Just what these particular skills are, remains to be seen fully since as a result of her being a bit brash and outspoken, she’s never spent more than a year on a single starship, mostly because the COs couldn’t stand her disagreements and her shrewdness at times.

Being part Betazoid, Jolinar can sense feelings and emotions from all around her, and through the years has learned to control her skills and even use her skills to her ‘advantage’. She’s learned to control pain, if not block it out completely, which has helped during a lot of situations including capture and torture. She is able to block/channel out her pain to the point of not realising she’s been hurt at all. This particular ‘talent’ has its upsides and downsides. The major downside being if she suddenly releases her grasp on the pain it throws her off and may put her into a coma due to the amount of pain generated back at her all at once.

She's a master pilot; her flying style has earned her the title of her codename/call sign "Daredevil". She likes things to be exciting, the more manoeuvres she can pull, and the tighter places she can get into and out of, the better. Jolinar is a thrill seeker whenever she sits behind the flight controls of a fighter or a starship; however she won’t try a manoeuvre in real life until she tried it out on the holodeck first. She does enjoy close combat, no matter how dangerous it is.

She doesn’t like sickbays, and considers a visit to one of them a waste of time, which could be spent doing better things than having someone check your vital signs. Has been known to ‘mess around’ with medical staff if they get on her nerves and stand in her way. Her usual response to an “are you okay?” question, would be “I’m fine” even if she’s not. However she doesn’t protest much if she has to go to sickbay, but she has been known to sneak out from sickbays once she’s able to move and is usually found working out on the holodeck.

She has flown fighters before and during the Borg War, but under circumstances she refuses to disclose and which aren’t a part of her record for some reason, she has been barred from solo flying in a fighter unless there is an extreme need for her skills. Forced to tone herself down and take it easy for a while by not flying solo missions in fighters until further notice, Jolinar has continued to do what she loves – flying, albeit bigger ships.

Jolinar has been known to be impulsive at times, even going as far as disobeying an order, if the situation merited it despite her superiors thinking they didn’t. The only reason why she’s still in Starfleet is because each time she did something on an impulse, and her gut feeling proved to be correct; as a direct result of her actions usually ended up saving lives of fellow Starfleet officers except a few cases that she refuses to discuss and strangely enough they have been classified by Starfleet shortly before her transfer to the USS Phoenix after Starfleet pulled her out from her last posting.

Quirks: Developing a 'relationship' with anything she flies for a better understanding of the fighter/ship; can sometimes be seen talking to the fighter/ship if she is flying it.

Talents: Flying anything she can get her hands on. Ability to suppress pain for a certain amount of time.

Likes: Flying, weapons, work and anything related to her job. daredevil manoeuvres whilst flying, living ‘on the edge’, training in the holodeck with the safeties off, getting into fights, riling others up, showing off her flying skills, , what passes as flirting with the male populace (sometimes even the female populace).

Dislikes: Sickbays, not being able to be on duty. Being on her own with nothing to occupy herself or her mind. Anyone who crosses her.

Limitations: Due to her Betazoid half, she can suppress pain for a certain amount of time, but if she suddenly releases her grasp on the pain it throws her off and may put her into a coma (in an extreme situation) due to the amount of pain generated back at her all at once.
