Klach D'kel Brakt was a Klingon system but was attacked in 2385 and assimilated. The fall of the system along with a third of the Klingon fleet that had assembled there forced chancellor Martok to seek federation membership.

The main planet had three large cities as well as many outlying homes and facilities for machinery and food production. The system maintained a large defence fleet and was defended by an armoured station in orbit of the planet. There was also a large scale production of warships at the facility during the last decade.

The planet hold strategic as well as cultural significance for the klingons. The great Dahar Master Kor defeated the romulans at Klach D'kel Brakt. The System Due to its strategic significance served as a major export hub for the empire and many traders and spies often found it to be their port of call.
