What the hell's a Cario? —Jobe
During the American Civil War (1861-1865) the Confederates made extensive use of mines in harbours, bays and rivers. On 12 December 1862, the ironclad Cairo was the first major US Navy ship lost to a mine. Operating in the Yazoo River in Mississippi, Cairo was destroyed by a mine triggered by a shore side Confederate team as she attempted to support mine-spotting boats moving on the river in front of her. http://www.dotphoto.com/GuestViewImage.asp?AID=3078938&IID=101490486&INUM=15&ICT=36&IPP=16 she's listed as Cairo in a lot of places but her name is Cario :Just cause i say it is :D.It's a Bf spelling mistake that kinda holds some meaning these days for us in FE.A running gag on the old Cario sim was that the boys at utopia planetia wanted to head off early one friday so they misspelled her name on the hull in a rush to leave. So it really is just a spelling error? The article should definitely explain that, then. —Jobe
ship WAS station is not an error.Captain Davies 21:03, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I should've been clearer: the article should state that the current name was intentionally derived from a spelling error. If the article makes no mention of it, it just looks like a mistake. —Jobe
Ooooh ok! that makes sense.My bad.Captain Davies 21:10, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
