Template:Hands

This template converts the height of a horse, measured in hands, to the equivalent heights in inches and centimetres.

Important: any decimal part is interpreted as being in inches, not as a decimal fraction of a hand. Hence '13.2 hands' means '13 hands, 2 inches', not 13²/₁₀ hands.

Usage:

{{hands|13.2|and|16.1}}

show:

13.2 hands (54 inches, 137 cm)
13.2 and 16.1 hands (54 to 65 inches, 137 to 165 cm)

If the 'range' format is used, the text in the second parameter can take any value you wish to use, such as 'and', 'to' or –. A space is appended either side of this parameter.
