Temporal Prime Directive

The Temporal Prime Directive is a Starfleet legal statement.

"In no situation may Starfleet personnel knowingly modify the timeline, and, in cases where a temporal incursion has occured, all necessary action must be taken to restore the preferred timeline."

Starfleet Temporal Investigations is dedicated to enforcing the Temporal Prime Directive.
