The USS Renegade was retired from Starfleet service in 2400 after surviving the Battle of Sol. Before the battle, it was re-activated with an emergency crew. Engine trouble kept it out of the primary fighting, causing it to only be deployed on the final day of battle. After the Starfleet victory, the ship was placed in mothballs around Jupiter with several other ships of the same class. The nearby USS Kyoto was the main source of scrap parts for the remaining New Orleans fleet, leaving the Renegade virtually untouched.
It still sits today powered down, but in ready to deploy condition.
