History
Zach was born into a quiet farming community on Alpha Centauri. From the moment he could hold a molecular fertilizer Zach loved working with his hands. He would work in the field all day and then swim in the nearby lake at night. His community was only distantly aware of the dire events unfolding around them.
In 2394 Zach and his family moved to Earth and took up residence in Nappanee, Indiana when the threat of a Borg invasion became a real possibility. They continued farming, but Zach had other ideas. During their time on the transport to Earth, Zach frequently made clandestine visits to the Bridge and Engine Room. He spent hours sitting in ventilation ducts watching the crew go about their business. By the time the transport reached Earth, Zach vowed that he would return to the stars.
In school Zach got slightly above average grades, and barely made the GPA cutoff that his new school required to take the Starfleet entrance exam. He failed the exam the first time, however interacting with the Starfleet officers who proctored the test inspired Zack to try again. The second time he passed the exam and was accepted into the Academy.
At Starfleet Academy Zach excelled in his physical conditioning classes, but struggled in his advanced science curriculum. He graduated on time, and the only award he received during his tenure was a citation for bravery on a training mission.
After graduation Zach was assigned to the USS Hopeful as a tactical officer. He served with distinction and was twice awarded with medals for bravery on an away mission. He was promoted to Assistant Chief Tactical Officer in 2406. Zach applied for a transfer to the USS Enterprise when a position as Chief Tactical Officer opened up. He came on duty in early 2408, and serves on the ship to this day.
