What if I made a flow chart, showing how the existance of this craft within FE will eventually lead to the ruination of the world economy and the end of human civilisation as we know it?

Jokes aside, it's an awful design that only features in BF because in the days before sci fi art and the like, BF used 'orrible cut n' paste imagery and modded shots of the Defiant to represent shuttle classes that Bremer dreamed up whilst playing Doom and they wanted an evolution of that rather than a new and sensible design. COs already have plently of leeways when it comes to support craft with established canon designs and the addition of the Huron and Mustang runabouts which show a clear evolutionary progression from the Danube beyond simply being a kitbash. And beyond that the specs are daft. The deck height is over six metres - even luxury craft such as Voyager were only about 3-4m tall per deck. It has two 40m long decks but can only hold 22 people? It has 4 Type-U+ pulse phaser cannons - more advanced weapons than the Defiant - the meanest fighter even seen in Trek. It has a Type-X array - again this was mounted on the Defiant. This is basically a Defiant that players can shoot things in without the bother of having to worry about getting a crew first. It's a horrible, horrible design and representative of a Bravo Fleet doctrine I thought FE was trying to escape from by limiting such obvious fanboy creations. I mean, just ''listen'' to it,

It's ridiculous! It's like we're a design bureau trying to sell the class to Starfleet! First off, if this is a tactical vessel as said, why the ability to transform into a super-sensor suite? Secondly, why does a 10x20x20 weapons pod have only two torpedo launchers? Are the provided BF specs with the weapons pod or the sensor pod? So does it have 3 torpedo launchers or 5? 90 torpedoes or only 60?

This is pure, uncut, raw, smell the hyperbole, Bremer Fleet rubbish. It's beneath us. We're collecting good writers, establishing the group as a serious writing one rather than an excuse to see what what a volley of Quantum-X torpedoes can do to a Borg Cube, and establishing that even though it's the future, Starfleet's not all that more advanced than it was during DS9 (avoiding of course the ablative armour and cloaking devices). This sort of thing pulls us down. It's rubbish, and we're better than it. In fact it's worse than rubbish; it's sooo rubbish, it almost hurts to think of it in our universe. It's that bad.

I mean, just listen to it,

Many improvements include its weapons array, the addition of powerful sensors, enhanced warp and impulse capabilities and powerful shielding and hull plating. The refit also included a mission pod above the superstructure. Only two Pods have been designed. One is a weapons pod with two additional torpedo launchers (one forward, one aft). The other pod has a very advanced sensor and communications suite. It allows the small craft to operate as a scout, mobile communications relay, or as a sensor/communications jammer.

AND I'm not even sure it could fit through most shuttlebay doors. So there. - Chris 10:33, 29 March 2006 (EST)
