The Sovereign Class USS Oberon was commissioned in the mid-2370s, and assigned to the Fifth Fleet. Under the command of Commander James Harris, she met her apparent demise at the Battle of Raeya in 2382.

In September 2403 Fleet Admiral Taylor ordered the Oberon to report to Utopia Planitia Shipyards to under go a refit.
