Two starships the IKS Ch'Tang, a Klingon B'rel class bird of prey, and the [[USS Essex]], a reactivated Excelsior class ship, have been stationed at the colony to aid in defence while the planets primary defence systems are rebuilt. |

Alpha Centauri colony is located on a M class planet located within 5 light years of Earth. The star system it belongs to is a trinary star system. The original colony was the first human settlement outside of the Sol system
