During the American Civil War (1861-1865) the Confederates made extensive use of mines in harbours, bays and rivers.  On 12 December 1862, the ironclad Cairo was the first major US Navy ship lost to a mine. Sorry, I should've been clearer: the article should state that the current name was intentionally derived from a spelling error. If the article makes no mention of it, it just looks like a mistake. —Jobe

Its spelt Cario Class, after the Galaxy Class starship serving in TF72.
