What about orbital facilities? I know the Romulans have a big base in orbit, and I think the Klingons do to, so I supoose Starfleet probably still has something. Are these in geosynch orbit? Are they parked at some of the Larange points?

Could we perhaps start adding more detail to this? What are the major population centers? What are the big regonal issues (Moscow apparantly has a problem with organized crime)? Where did most of the Klingons settle (I'm thinking the South American rain forrests would be great for them)? Where did the Romulans settle? What is the current total population? What are the plans for improvement? What are the ethnic demographics? Does the Federation control the entire surface area, or are there lawless zones outside any effective Starfleet control?Ross Taben 12:20, 14 March 2006 (EST)

We'll be covering a lot of this in upcoming SFC missions - regarding that, I'm trying to find a balance between fleshing out backstory and leaving some things undefined so we're not constrained by them yet. I think K'Hare had ideas on what the Klingons are doing, and there are hints beginning to crop up across FE regarding its state - One of Cath's fics involved Tokyo, for example. I didn't actually know this article was so small - I'll start to add some of what's been confirmed shortly. - Chris 14:48, 14 March 2006 (EST)
I've fattened it up a fair bit. Couple of points,
  • I've included brief summaries for the cities but not links. That can change in future but I didn't see the point in creating a new set of stubs just to say, "home of Job."
  • There's some speculation regarding the current political set-up. A nation-state>super-state>world government set-up seems logical, but I can understand a desire to keep it simple and simply have the Federation government administer Earth (that's how it was shown in DS9 - with the Federation President making security decisions regarding Earth). Quad input needed here.
  • Population just under 9 billion, not borg. A guess. Earth's over populated and can't look after its people. If, in First Contact the Borg have 9 billion - we know how cramped their starships and facilities are - at a guess 8.7B is a 'good' bad number that non-cyborgs would have trouble dealing with and catering for. - Chris 15:38, 14 March 2006 (EST)
Just what are the guidelines for players helping to define Earth? Am I required to get permission to do anything, or just major things? What is considered major, and what is minior? Ross Taben 17:19, 14 March 2006 (EST)
  • Major changes in galactic affairs as well as the political status of Earth is seen as major. Its best if you want to make a suggestion (on anything FE-ish) is to do it on the forums here and it will be considered by the Quad and we shall say yes, no or otherwise. -MJ
What happens if you say "otherwise?" - Chris 08:34, 16 March 2006 (EST)
  • Dan gets nasty, Alex agrees, Cath drinks more and I say otherwise! :P lol! no seriously by otherwise I mean we may take in your suggestion and perhaps alter it. MJ.
