The Ninth Fleet was one of Starfleet's largest and most military prominent fleets. It met elements from the Fourth Fleet and the Klingon 242nd Battle Squadron on the edge of the Rayean System to engage the Borg in the early days of the war in 2382. It was completely wiped out in the conflict.
