A civilian corporation before the war, little is know about how it survived during the war.
Starfleet only recently discovered it still existed when a survay probe returned it's data.
All Starfleet Vessels have been warned to give the site a wide berth until Starfleet Command can dispatch a vessel suited to the task of checking it out.
