I don't know. The existence of a Supreme Court is for a very specific reason, that being a part of the checks and balances of any kind of governmental structure. It is meant to be a body which can exist to interpret and enforce the laws and the constitution without fear of electoral backlash or political retaliation. A Federation Judiciary Council personally sounds like an incredibly silly thing due to the accountability of politicians. As the height of judicial power, it should be separate from both the executive and legislative branches, otherwise we simply have a judicial body which will merely blindly enforce that which is passed by the two other houses, will change from administration to administration, and is going to be subject to political retaliation. --[[User:Oook|Oook]] 00:08, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough, so the Federation Supreme Courts are seperate from anything else. Yeah?! - [[User:MJ|MJ]]

Revision as of 11:04, 29 March 2007

The Federation Supreme Court was mentioned in a DS9 episode and the Federation Judiciary Council was mentioned in Articles of the Federation, as a sub council of the Federation Council. Both have been seen as the same thing, however the Judiciary Council in AotF is made up of members from the Federation Council and the Federation President can apparently sit in on hearing being led by the Council. I'm kinda leaning to the idea that they are both the same thing with the official governmental name being the Federation Juiciary Council, which has picked up the name after many decades since its existance as the Supreme Court by the media/civilians. Thoughts anyone? MJ
