History

The Intrepid class Starship USS Rainmaker has been commanded by Estaban Maturin in Task Force 58 since early in the year 2382, she became an SCE ship in April of 2383. During the Borg war she had been part of the SAR, and Tech retrieval group, almost never going in the front lines of a battle, until the end of the war when resources started dwindling, The final battle she had fought in was the battle of Alpha Centauri, That is when her whole meaning of life changed, from the Federation against the Borg to us (the Rainmaker) against the whole galaxy... They are valiantly trying to make it back to Earth, not even sure if there is an Earth to go to...

Origin

The USS Rainmaker NCC-74916 started life somewhere between June and October of 2000 OOG or 2376 IC with the registry code of NCC-74661. She was commissioned by Admiral Coast-Endas the Task Force Commanding Officer of Task Force 86. His explanation of why he named her Rainmaker in his words are: "As the Intrepid class was very new at the time I found rainmaker fitting. It has an impressive science ability and Medical technology fitting with 2 of the dictionary's meanings for Rainmaker." (see dictionary.com for details)
The name and history of her first Captain has been lost in history along with the missions she preformed under his command (how sad) But the second Commanding Officer was Jack Roper who had become a Commodore before retiring, the ship's missions under Commodore Roper will be published soon, then the third Commanding Officer was Jonathan Phoenix, the same Phoenix that is now serving as Executive Officer on the Rainmaker today. The ship's mission's under Captain Phoenix will also be published soon. After the Rainmaker sat in mothballs for almost a year the need for ships pulled her out to be refit and assigned to Task Force 58 with Captain Maturin in command. Soon she was deep in the war efforts becoming a SCE ship and helping the efforts of recovery from the battle fields and setting up defense for planets.

Currently

January 5, 2397... USS Rainmaker Captain’s Log... We are not in Kansas anymore Toto. The weapon backwash we were caught in must have been a subspace event weapon since we are not near Alpha Centauri, since our main computer had been shut down completely it is not totally up to speed yet we are not sure where we are. Decks one, two, and six are destroyed, others are heavily damaged. Our main power is gone, auxiliary power is at 50% and emergence power is at 63%. We have debris around us that obviously was sent with us, including the aft half of a Wildcat Class ship, both warp neccels have been damaged but maybe the warp core is intact, and if we can get that... with both main and impulse off line we are closing with it on maneuvering thrusters alone. We have no transporters at this time and the only shuttle that will fly again will take two more hours to repair.... Astrometrics have just informed me that we are near Bajor. Our engineers have also reported that we have no sub-space radio, nor will we anytime soon, we have one torpedo tube functional, front port, and five torpedoes left, three Photon and two Quantum. One phaser strip is also still intact and functional, also port, topside. Our casualty count has came in... out of 205 Officers, Crew, and Marines there is seventy one still alive, and of that twenty-eight are not expected to last the next twenty-four hours. With Deck six destroyed we have no sickbay, almost all our medical supplies are gone, and we have no energy to replicate more. Also, our replicater material tanks have been vented and we have lost most of our stores.
