Personality and Traits
Physical Attributes
Blair is a bit shorter and slimmer than the norm for humans, which benefits his former job as a fighter pilot. Since he stopped flying fighters every day and became more of a ground pounder, he did bulk up some, but not so much that being in a cockpit became uncomfortable.
Psychological Profile
Personality
Blair's sense of humor tends to run on the dry side, and he is unafraid to use it. This is not necessarily always a good thing, as he tends to use it to cover nervousness when forced to be in a social situation, and sometimes his sense of humor gets... wierd when he's nervous. This, as much as anything, leads to the awkward situations which only reinforce his uncomfortableness in social situations.
Hobbies
During his few off hours that he doesn't have much else to do, he can probably be found getting in some simulator time, as he loves to fly. He also will occasionally cook food himself, as he often jokes it tastes better made by hand than by replicator. He also has a collection of books by late 20th Century Earth author Tom Clancy. Another more recent interest of his is old Earth weapons - his collection included a Fabriqe Nationale P-90 submachine gun, a Fabrique Nationale Five-seveN pistol, and an Earth Military Assault Command EM pulse rifle. Another weapon he owns is one given as a gift by then-Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Surridge of Deep Space Seven; a Federation Marine combat knife with a "holdout" phaser in the handle, with a power cell good for only a bare handful of shots.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Blair's biggest weakness is that, while he cares professionaly for everyone on the Chimera, he really has yet to connect to anyone on a real personal level, and his social life is just about nil. He has been known to call himself on this, but the fact of the matter is that he simply does not know how to act in a non-duty situation with anybody. He can relax and talk about duty-related matters, but thats about it. As a matter of fact, he himself as summed it up like this: "Give me a battalion of Marines and I can conquer and hold any planet you like, against just about any enemy. But put me in a social situation, and I will be running out the door before a half-hour has passed with both feet in my mouth so far Im tasting my kneecaps."
Ambitions
Blair is driven, deep down, by a sense of service that rubbed off from having two senior officers in Starfleet for parents. If one asked him what he really wanted from Starfleet, he'd tell you the rank of Colonel and his own fighter unit, or possibly his own ship. (The latter is a relativley new ambition, granted.)
Biography
Christopher Blair was born to a Starfleet family. He and his parents moved from family to starship to starbase, his mother a Captain, and his father a Marine ground forces officer. As a youth, Blair expressed an interest in flying fighters, and studied to become a Marine fighter pilot. After the Dominion War, in which his mother was killed when her ship was destroyed by Jem'Hadar attack ships, he and his father (who retired from the Corps) moved back to Earth.
He served first as a fighter squadron commander on the Prometheus-class USS Athena, then was promoted to First Lieutenant and Marine Commander. After the Athena disappeared while on a covert mission, Blair, the only survivor, made it back to the Federation in a Razor-class long range fighter. He was then given orders to the Carrier-class USS Reprisal, where he seemed on the fast track to the carrier's wing commander slot when he was injured by Romulan attack, rendering him unable to fly. He then served for a year as Admiral Kathryn Janeway's Marine Adjutant while he healed, then was ordered back to the Reprisal as a squadron commander. Shortly thereafter, he was transferred to the Bravo Fleet flagship, the USS Pegasus NCC-1702-B as Marine Commander. After a short tour there, he was transferred to the Steamrunner-class USS Montgomery as her temporary Marine Commander. Once a permanent Marine commander was found, he was transferred to the Lost City of Atlantis to join the crew of Deep Space Seven.
After a few months serving as DS7's Special Operations Commander, Blair was tapped by Starfleet command for a deep-cover covert operation, the details on which are classified at the highest levels. After the mission, Blair applied for transfer back to DS7, but instead of being assigned to the station, he was assigned to the Second Battle Group's USS Achilles as her Strategic Operations Officer. After a couple months of that (and attending the Fourth Annual Bat'leth Tournament at Serenity Station), he snagged a transfer back to Atlantis' Fort Angel as the Marine Deputy Commander for Major Jason T'Shir, his former Special Ops XO. His next assignment, much to his joy, was as CAG for the Excalibur-class USS Chimera. When the Chimera crew was sent to Mannheim Station, Blair was given travel orders to return to Earth before being sent out to a new assignment as MarDet CO on Starbase 503.
After retirement in 2384, he stayed fit for a man his age, but he simply wasn't physically able to do everything he had done in the past. It didn't stop him, however, from reactivating his commission and accepting the CAG slot aboard the USS London less than a year later. The London and her attached fighter squadron, VFMS-51 "Wild Hogs", saw action at Ferenginar. Several border patrols with only minor combat saw the London through to 2388, and the Second Battle of Bajor. Blair's squadron was decimated during the battle, and was replaced by another fighter group, while the survivors of Blair's squadron returned to Alpha Centauri for repairs, refits, and reinforcements. The squadron was again deployed as part of the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing. The wing's first engagement was at the Second Battle of Wolf 359, and not a single fighter escaped unharmed. Blair himself was injured before he could be picked up by an SAR runabout, and he was returned to Earth for treatment and physical rehab. In 2397, he was placed in command of VFS-238, a mixed-bag overstrength fighter squadron that was dispatched in a hurry to reinforce the Alpha Centauri defense group just prior to the Borg attack. Unfortunately, they arrived too late to make a difference and fell back to Sol. The squadron was assigned to Strike Force Alpha, and survived the first two days of combat relatively unscathed - mostly because except in one giant mass attack, the Federation's fighters couldn't damage any but the smallest Borg vessels significantly and thus were regarded by the Collective as a minimal threat.
Finally, on the 26th of December, the odds caught up and VFS-238 lost 90% of its combat strength within twenty minutes of combat. The squadron's survivors - including Blair in a damaged Valkyrie - were recalled to Earth. Hasty repairs and reorganization with the rest of the fighter corps resulted in Blair recieving command of the ad-hoc 19th Fighter Wing, and they launched into battle on the 27th as part of the final "all-or-nothing" assault by the Allied fleet on the Borg near Mars. The Starfleet Fighter Corps suffered similar casualties as the starships did, and Blair was one of the luckier ones. His fighter was destroyed at 1847 on the 27th, and he wasn't rescued until 2013. He had suffered severe damage to his left knee, requiring that the joint to be replaced. He was again put on medical leave. During his rehab, when the determination came to disband the Starfleet Marine Corps and establish the Federation Mobile Infantry, Blair started making some calls. Both the Mobile Infantry and the newly-established Starfighter Command
