SS Starlight
From FEInfobase
- "Most of the pieces of the ship other than the original design seem scavenged, who knows where they picked up this trash"
- —Kayvin Jal on the Starlight
The S.S Starlight was a Federation registered transport ship (registry NAR-1575), built from a converted raider-type starship of almost sixty years of age that was active in the post-Borg War era under the command of one Bryan Davies and serves as the primary focus of the stories in Star Trek: SS Starlight.
- Primarily it's retrofits included the ability to haul both cargo and passengers and was equipped with a shuttlepod designated "StarBrite".

Profile
A former courier and raider, the vessel's current configuration serves a role as both freighter and passenger ships in the virtually lawless regions of the "Outcast Rim", far removed from the overcrowded Core Worlds.
A robust and modular craft, the Starlight permits itself to easy modification, probably best exemplified by the modification to the Cargo Bay to both berth and launch the shuttlepod, StarBrite at a moment's notice. While much of it's history in the days before the Borg War are unknown, the extent of it's modifications are. A seemingly unfinished or makeshift refit of the standard Ju'Day-class, the Starlight's original configuration stood between the otherwise harmless freighter and the vicious vessel type that terrorised the former Cardassian/Federation Demilitarised Zone.
Yet while these same 'modifications' remain installed, all save for the remaining Pulse Laser cannon designed to remove space debris before it could damage the vessel. Thus invariably reducing to it's standard harmless status.
History
Interior Design
The interior of the vessel, while half the size of a Starfleet Defiant class, the interior of the design of the room is spacious enough to reside in, yet functional due to it's purpose to serve a small crew and store a vast amount of cargo in travelling from port to port. Due to it's modular design, it lends itself easily to redesign and thus many facets of the vessel emerge from differing eras. The best example would be otherwise archaic medical bay that utilises a design and components from the 23rd century while other regions of the vessel are predominantly far more modern in design.
