Type-10 Shuttlecraft
From FEInfobase
Template:Shuttle specs The Type 10 Shuttlecraft is a Starfleet auxiliary support craft attached normally to starships and stations to be used for short range missions, mainly carrying cargo. This type is designated as a class one shuttlecraft as it mainly built to be operated by one person for minimum duration.
This class of shuttlecraft is normally present on Defiant Class, Norway Class and Saber Class ships. This type of shuttlecraft is heavily based on the ideas and principles of the old shuttlepods used on the Earth Starfleet NX Class ships. This is due to the shuttles ability to help smaller Starfleet ships allowing them to move limited crew and cargo to a planet, ship or station without using a transporter. The type 10 is designed to take off and land from a small mount for use on the smaller ships which don't have the room for a place to exit the ship in flight.
Type 10s were put in to place originally on board the USS Defiant in 2373 and have successfully proved their worth to all smaller classes of Starfleet ships.
In 2383 a major overhaul of all shuttlecraft systems were undertaken and many systems on the Type 10 were improved to further extended their usefulness to Starfleet, including for the first time since it was designed the adding of type IV phaser emitters.
