The Ark

The Ark is the first episode of the first season of Star Trek: Chimera. It told the story of the crew's first mission together, and their meeting with the Software Entity.

Summary

The USS Chimera arrived in the Aritethi System to find phaser fire between the locals, the Aritethi, and the a ship belonging to the arachnoid Verachians. After interposing itself into the combat to force it to end, Captain Carson Reese and Ensign Esha Syed transported to the Aritethi flagship to negotiate with the natives, while Commander Sevlar and Lieutenant Selin Gran traveled to the Verachian vessel to assist with repairs, leaving Ensign Caroline Walton in command of the ship to investigate a mysterious, hollow comet.

When the ship launched a probe to study the comet, an entity on the comet, the Software Entity, contacted the probe and used its communications link with the ship to transfer itself into the Chimera's computer. Ensign Walton and Major Garren Lucas managed to convince the entity to transfer control of the ship back to the crew.
