Star Trek: Defiant is the Futility's End Simm based around the adventures and exploits of the crew of the Defiant Class starship USS Defiant-B. The simm was the fourth simm to go active when Futility's End was originally formed over four years ago.

The role of the Defiant-class is Convoy Escort. This is the job of the USS Defiant. It's dangerous work as such convoys will be tempting targets to Pirates, Raiders, and everyone with a grudge against the Federation. And even still, anything she encounters will also be up to the Defiant to investigate and hold because she happens to be the only ship available at the time, and she will have to make due until a cruiser can be dispatched. To compound this problem she is undermanned with a crew of fresh-faced Conscripts and their handful of battle-hardened Officers to oversee them, on a ship ill-equipped for anything other than short-range combat... so just about anything and everything can and will go wrong.

Overview (IC)

Since the Federation Civil War the [USS Defiant|USS Defiant]] has been in dry dock undergoing repairs, however the ship was pulled onto the front lines during the Second Battle of Sol to fight against the Renegades.

During the battle, the Defiant took several major hits after it's shields has failed. Several areas on the ship were venting into space while several key points on the mainframe had weaken to the point that the Defiant had to be towed back to San Francisco Yards and placed on the repair list.

However, Starfleet Command would pull the Defiant out of cold storage in late 2307 to be placed under the command of Lieutenant Commander Danial Voran who would have to launch the ship as it was under staffed and not even fully repaired.
