51 Pegasi is a star system 50 light years from Sol. It is a rather backwater system with minimal resources. The system itself contains two gas giants and a single small rocky planetoid that closely orbits the star. In recent years, the Federation has considered deeper mineral surveys in the area.

In 2409, the crew of the USS Ticonderoga found a 200 year old Federation vessel adrift in the system. Onboard were six Humans, including Charles MacAllen. It turned out that they had been brought through time and space on a mysterious interdimensional vessel of which little is known.

Real World Info:
The 51 Pegasi system contains the first extra-solar planet discovered by humans. A gas giant, it orbits close to the 51 Pegasi star and the system itself is not believed to harbor any potentially life-bearing or earth-like worlds.
