Based heavily upon failed artificial wormhole experiments conducted by the USS Defiant in late 2377 the Dimensional Acceleration Machine otherwise known as D.A.M is currently being tested outside the Sol system for possible observation and contact with dimensions outside our own. Highly secrative and borderline illegal it is the "blacksheep" of galactic restoration projects currently being undertaken by the Federation. Ultimate goal is the discovery of a dimension similar to our own without sustained humanoid lifeforms for possible resource extraction. Project leader Damien Hellstrom is currently awaiting final approval to begin active powered tests the federation security concil is currently debating the projects continued funding.
