Service Record

2376-2380

Alexander DeBakey is a Mark Five EMH created by Holographic Engineer Doctor Lewis Zimmerman. He was first activated on the 17th May 2376 (stardate 53875.395) at Jupiter Stationin the Sol Sector. His program was later finished and assigned to the Intrepid Class starship USS Sloan. Alexander never received his name until the Sloan’s CMO; one Commander Susan Lakeland gave him his name. His first name comes from the famous Medical Doctor Sir Alexander Fleming who won a Nobel Peace Prize for creating Penicillin. His surname comes from Michael DeBakey, another famous Doctor who performed the first heart bypass operation in Earth history.

Alexander was constantly running while he served on the Sloane, although he was encouraged by the ship’s captain to explore his ‘individuality’. Alexander came to enjoy playing the piano, photography, writing, drawing, dancing, in fact he enjoyed everything that was available. During a crisis in late 2376 the Sloan responded to a distress call from a small Federation Colony.

It had suffered high seismic activity that destroyed and damaged half of the colony. While Doctor Lakeland lead the medical team to the surface she had left Alexander in charge of organising, co-ordinating and leading the rest of the Sloan’s medical staff. The CO of the Sloan was impressed with Alexander’s commitment and loyalty that he gave him the field commission of full lieutenant.

By 2377 Alexander had become an important part of the Sloan’s crew. He had free range on Sloan, with holographic projections installed on every deck through every section. On 2nd October 2377 (stardate 55250.73) Doctor Lakeland left the Sloan to take up a position on Deep Space Six as its Chief Medical Officer there. Alexander was promoted and made the Sloan’s CMO. When the Sloan docked at Utopia Planitia in 2378 for major refits Alexander’s program was transferred to Jupiter Station. With the recent return of the USS Voyager, Starfleet had decided to give Voyager’s CMO, with Doctor Zimmerman the chance to improve several EMHs. Alexander was nominated, and by the time the Sloan was ready to depart his program had been refitted with all new sub-routines.

He was integrated in the Sloan’s computer systems, and in the event the ship’s Chain of Command would fall he would be able to use his Emergency Command Holographic Program to take command of the Sloan. In early 2380 was when Alexander’s ECH program was first activated. The Sloan had been attacked by a Romulan Warbird, and a lot of the senior crew had been injured, the XO had been killed while the captain had been injured attempting to manually eject the Sloan’s warp core. Alexander took command of the Sloan and was able to lead the ship’s crew back to Federation space where they rendezvoused with the USS Agincourt an Akira Class vessel.

On stardate 57875.395 Alexander had placed in a request for a transfer. The captain of the Sloan was sad to see him leave but fully supported Alexander in his bid to discover new things. Starfleet Command accepted his request of a transfer and he was transferred on board the USS Miranda NCC-77001, Kelvin class starship under the command of Captain James Ryan. Alex remained on the Miranda untill its destruction, he served on both the USS Miranda-A as well as the USS Miranda-B before being transferred off the vessel to the USS Red Robin in 2380 under the command of David Stone.

2380-2402

He served on the Red Robin for an extra year before its crew were transferred to the USS Ferdinand. In 2386 he recieved an offer to transfer to Starfleet Medical as the assistant deputy of Medical's Emergency Medicine department.

A decade later his former commanding officer, David Stone contacted him and requested he join him on the new Red Robin. He served on the vessel for several more years, and became quite an expert in removing Borg implants from organic lifeforms. In 2402 he was responsbile for restoring Andrew Johnson away from the Borg assimilation he had undergone during the Battle of Sol.

After this he was transferred as Chief Medical Officer to the USS Miranda-C under the command of Captain Kelly Ryan (DS1: "The Miracle Workers") .
