Early Life

Eden was born only a year before her father handed over the Terran Rebellion to the to the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, on the planet Cestus III. She grew up as a military daughter, living in the Alliance headquarters on New Earth. Her mother, Arianna Enigma, was killed during the Rebellion's last days, when her ship was ambushed by the Klingons.

At age 16, Eden volunteered for the Alliance forces, finding herself a place aboard a Klingon battlecruiser as an officer. She had a habit of taking on exceptionally dangerous missions, ones for which there was little support available, and of seeing them through to completion. Soon, her unit - the Barghests - became known for both high casualty rates and high success rates, becoming a place where commanders sent soldiers who they had no use for and where soldiers who wanted a glorious death volunteered to join. Her unit was involved in the first skirmishes against the Dominion, where she earned a great deal of renown.

Ship Command

At age 24, after eight years in the ground forces, Enigma, without consulting her father, requested a ship command. Because of her record of service, Gul Ramar of the Cardassian Fifth Order granted it to her - a small Cardassian attack ship. From there, she quickly moved to a larger command - one of the Klingon Vor'cha-class starships. It was while she was in command of this ship that she heard about the building, at the New Earth shipyard, of a new battleship, one of the most powerful in the Alliance fleet and the most powerful ever built by terrans - the ITV ''Enterprise''. She traveled to New Earth to meet with her father and request the Enterprise, but he gave her his answer: "I will not give you the Enterprise unless you can do something impressive enough that the decision to do so cannot possibly be called nepotism, and do so before the ship is complete and commissioned."

So Eden decided to kill a god.

Godslayer

It was well-known by now among the Alliance's ground forces and marines that to encounter one of the Dominion's gods was to die - they were too strong, too fast, and always heavily defended by their Jem'haddar bodyguards. The Founders were growing to be seen as nearly divine beings by the Alliance as well as the Dominion, and Enigma knew that the way to secure what she wanted was to end that myth. She set out with her ship and two others, and a carefully-selected team, toward Bajor, encountering the Dominion near the Badlands. Using her knowledge of the area, she was able to draw the Dominion squad's lead ship into an ambush, disabling their shields and driving them to land on a nearby planet. This was a trap - the planet's atmosphere was ionized in a way that prevented shapechanging and disrupted the Jem'haddars' ability to shroud themselves. With the Jem'haddar weakened and the Founder removed entirely from play, Enigma's forces were able to take the Founder, the Vorta, and four Jem'haddar hostage. She had her doctor remove the Vorta's suicide chip, then began her work.

In front of her humanoid prisoners, Enigma personally tortured the Founder, using electricity and radiation on its liquified body. She kept the changeling alive for four days, having her scientists collect data on its physiology as she slowly killed it. After the Changeling was dead, she killed all but one of her prisoners - a Jem'haddar, who she convinced not to kill himself by reminding him that someone would have to know what had happened to his god, so that it could be avenged. She took the ashes of the slain Changeling, and had them compressed into a gemstone, which she now wears around her neck.

This action won her the Enterprise, and the nickname - from both the Alliance and the Dominion - of "Godslayer."

Other Universe Scouting Project

After a year in command of the Enterprise, Enigma requested, and was granted, command of the project to explore the other universe, to see if conquest of the Federation and her allies would be a venture more likely to succeed than continuing to defend against the Dominion.
