'Elliot Hale was the Chief Counselor on the Deep Space Five in the early 25th century as of 2410.

"For the most part, Elliot is quiet, keeps to herself, and gets the job done. She does not hesitate in "gettin' dirty", but this might be most emotion one might see from her yet. She rarely speaks out of turn, and when she does speak, it is usually because she is spoken to. Private and fiercely introverted, Hale's personality might be confused with that of a Vulcan. An illogically quiet Vulcan, at that."

Character History

Strengths and Weaknesses

Hale is particularly cold when crewmembers have attempted to recognize and befriend her. She can often be found in a dark bar, drinking whiskey and reading to herself with her dog sleeping under her seat.

Family and School

Born in “the boonies” of Belmont, West Virginia, Elliot and Shiloh Hale were a surprise when their father hoped to have twin boys instead of girls. As was his right, Silas Hale gave his oldest children unisexual names and masculine nicknames. They spent most of their time with their brothers, (who followed in later years), and deferred to their father, especially after the birth of the twins’ youngest brother was followed closely by the death of their mother. In the aftermath, Elliot’s reserved nature seemed to take on a more serious nature. Naturally, she has a tendency to engage in more masculine activities and mannerisms than most women.

To be clear, Hale’s personality does differ from her sister. She is quick to laugh and smile, but even hastier in keeping to herself. Her optimistic attitude helps her in making acquaintances, but her partiality for privacy keeps most people at bay.

It should be acknowledged that it is difficult to talk about Eli without mentioning Scout, as they were born minutes apart and remain identical to each other. (Scout, however, prefers to stylize her hair dramatically.) The sisters are close to each other, and work well together. It can be seen as a weakness, however, as they have a tendency to weigh each other’s opinions carefully before moving forward with an action. Additionally, family responsibilities keep the sisters close to their brothers, who opted not to follow in their sister’s Starfleet footsteps. This may have soured both Eli and Scout’s relationship with their brothers, as Starfleet Academy was unforgiving and unrelenting when requiring the Hales to stick to their scholastic obligations.

Starfleet

At Starfleet Academy, the rigor of psychology and medicine (specifically, "xenobiology, it's differences with terran biology, and it's implications for those in need of medical care") quickly took up most of Hale’s time. She was a passionate proponent of the applied sciences, and enjoyed spending her free time tinkering and puttering about in the science labs.

Post War

Increasing concern has been expressed as the Counselor continues to refuse any discussion related to her family. Through legal means, it is known that Elliot remains the sole owner of her family's winery and fruit farm in Belmont, however, she employs a caretaker and day workers to maintain the upkeep of the land. An image was subpoenaed and requested to stay on Hale's personnel file, however, both requests were successfully appealed. With age and time, Hale continues to live life alone, with her Pit Bull Terrier, Rose, as her only companion.
