Jem'Hadar

Jem'Hadar are a genetically engeneered race of humanoids used as shock troops for the Dominion. Before the war they were one of the most powerful military forces in the galaxy, but they took heavy losses against the Borg. Thier numbers have been steadily replenished since then, but political considerations, as well as restricted resources have keep their numbers far below thier pre-war level.

Jem'Hadar have a very fast metabolic rate due to thier genetic modifications. They are grown in cloning vats known as birthing tanks, and as a result all Jem'Hadar are geneticly male, but do not have functioning reproductive organs.

Adult Jem'Hadar do not require sleep or rest, and shun relaxation. They are several times stronger and tougher than an average human, and thier senses are keener as well. Each Jem'Hadar has an innate ability to shroud- similar to an organic cloaking device. This ability allows them to become hidden from sensors and the naked eye.

Jem'Hadar are reliant on ketricel-white, a substance that provides them with a blood enzyme diliberately omitted from thier natural bodies. This is to ensure loyalty to the Founders, who they worship as gods.

Currently, the Jem'Hadar provide security for the Federation Council.
