Task Force 21

Task Force 21 (Codename: SABRE OPS) was an arm of the Fourth Fleet situated in Sector 611 near the C'Hakilian Empire and United Federation of Planets border. It had over twelve ships, two starbases (Starbase 611 & Starbase 900) and one colony (Kovar Colony) assigned under its jurisdiction.
SABRE Ops stood for Starfleet’s Advanced Border Reaction & Exploration Operations. TF21 was heavily involved with the C’Hakilian War and further conflicts with the empire which led to the Peace Armistice Crisis shortly before 2380.
TF21 was ordered to retreat from the Beta Quadrant in 2382 due to the Borg Invasion. Kovar Colony was successfully however contact was lost with both starbase. Half of Task Force 21 was lost when they attempted to find out what happened to the two starbases.
Admiral Kathryn Janeway re-assigned the task force in protection of several systems in the Inner Core Territory. Task Force 21 saw action in 2392 when it engaged two Borg Tactical Cubes in the Wolf 359 system in defence of Starbase 565. The Task Force took heavy losses including the starbase. However they were successful in destroying one of the cubes and heavily damaging the other one. The Task Force fell back to Earth for re-deployment.
The remains of the Task Force were placed under the command of Vice Admiral Luke Duncan in 2393. TF21 remained protecting Earth until it joined with the remnants of the Fourth Fleet in engaging the Borg in protecting Alpha Centauri. Many ships from the task force were lost and several went missing in action.
