Personal Background

Prior to 2403

Robert decided to follow in family foot steps by joining Starfleet. The Borg War strengthened his resolve, much to his parent's distress. He graduated 5th in his class add was assigned to the USS Mercury. In 2396 he married Mary Robertson on the Mercury. Despite being a civilian Mary stayed on the Mercury until it's destruction in 2398 defending a colony world. Robert survived by luck. Most of the crew abandoned the Mercury and went to the planet to defend against a ground assault. During this Robert was assimilated be the Borg using new, but flawed, experimental nanites. He was found unconscious be a clean up team near the body of is wife. Robert spent the next 3 years in Starfleet Medical being assessed and returned to normal. Unfortunately the nanites erased most of his memory in terms of events of his life. Despite this he could still remember how to do his job and many useless facts. The nanites themselves could not be removed, but obey Robert's wishes to an extent giving him mild regeneration beyond normal human standards. He often suffers Borg related nightmares but refuses to see councillors or let them interfere with his work.

After 2403

Robert returned to active duty by 2403 and was made chief operations officer of Deep Space One.
